Craig McKay is an internationally recognized marine industry expert with over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry, including aluminum vessel kit set designs, parts procurement, ferry service design, service operation and maintenance. His vessel expertise ranges from commercial low-cost people movers to upmarket luxury vessels.

He brings with him vast knowledge and strong experience to the MIQ team in commercial marine industry operation and vessel construction. He has owned and operated public and island resort passenger ferry services for many years and is an expert in cost analysis, viability assessment, planning, maintenance and operation.  

Craig works with some of the world’s best Naval Architects and is well known for providing vessel design from the crew and passenger perspective, a result of his many years working in the commercial ferry industry himself.  Craig has performed new vessel build cost analysis, writes build specifications and oversees parts procurement. His work history includes new aluminum build construction management and oversight. He has worked as a liaison and consultant with local and regional governments to pave the way for new markets in maritime industry.

Craig has owned and worked extensively with fast ferry and water taxi companies. He has performed business viability assessments and business planning, as well as overseeing implementation and operation of new ferry services. He is a qualified Vessel Master 24m NC and Marine Engine Driver NC in Australia. Craig speaks English and a good amount of Italian, and has local knowledge in USA, Italy, Asia and Oceania.
