John is a seasoned maritime professional with over 40 years of extensive seagoing experience across a diverse array of vessels, ranging from Sail Training Vessels and Sailing Yachts to Trailing Suction Dredgers and Super Yachts. His career is marked by expertise in vessel management and operations, supported by a comprehensive range of maritime qualifications and certifications.

His proficiency extends to ship brokerage, vessel valuations, and client liaison in both commercial and recreational maritime sectors. John has conducted valuations on a wide variety of vessels including Bulk Carriers, Container Ships, Tugs, Pilot Vessels, Dredges, and Yachts. He has also represented the New Zealand High Court in vessel arrest cases along the New Zealand and Australian coasts.

John has been an integral part of the New Zealand maritime community for over a decade and Is now a valued member of the MIQ team. His lifelong passion for the industry began during his childhood and continues to drive his career today. Starting with sailing around the world between 1976 and 1984 with his father, John has accumulated considerable operational experience encompassing ports and points of interest across New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific Islands, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean.

His career has seen him work on charter vessels, ferries, super yachts, offshore support vessels, dredgers, and tall ships. John's speciality lies in vessel procurement, design, operations, and valuations, where he advises clients with a deep understanding of vessel utility and tender negotiations.

Beyond his professional achievements, John remains an avid sailor, reflecting his enduring passion for the water that began in his youth. His commitment to excellence and his wealth of experience make him a valuable asset to any maritime endeavour.
